Copyright 2010 StormShutterServices.com Hurricane Screen or Fabric is a relatively new type  of storm protection. Made from what is commonly  known as Trampoline fabric, it is polypropylene  threads woven into sheets. A misconception is that  it is made from Kevlar, although there may be  certain brands that contain some Kevlar threads  woven in, a Hurricane screen made of pure Kevlar would be very  expensive. All of these products go through rigorous testing and  they pass without using Kevlar. Made as a 95% weave, Hurricane  Fabric allows 5% of wind, rain and light to pass  through. This means that 150 MPH Hurricane force  winds are reduced to a 7.5 MPH breeze. While  deployed, one cannot see into a structure, but can  see out. Hurricane fabric as recommended by the  manufacturer, should not be exposed to direct  sunlight for more than 30 days a year. This fact can  be a determent for those who would like to leave  Hurricane protection deployed as they travel away  from home or leave after season.   $10 per sq. ft.          Installed Create Your Own Estimate Click Here Click on the Cat5 logo to go to that webpage.
